wait its monday again?

uhh i can't believe it's already monday! this was a jam packed weekend! non-stop but filled with fun and productiveness. And monday has decided to be busy and not give me lots of time to blog this morning. So here are just a couple snapshots of my weekend. I'll be back tomorrow with hopefully a completed DIY project i started this weekend! :) Happy Monday!

I got to see these two cuties!
How cute is Tyler in his baseball outfit..had just gotten back from daddy's softball game.

Picked up some AMAZING fabric at the Fabric Depot in Portland. Could spend hours in that place!!! Do you love this gray chevron? Just wait until you see what I do with it! :)

Started a paint job. More on this tomorrow.

The saddest part of my weekend included saying goodbye to my good friend Jereme. I know its not forever and seven months will just zoom by but when you live and work with someone and see them everyday its hard not to have them around all the time.

But I just remember that she is about to go on one amazing adventure and that when shes back in 7 months ill have my friend, business partner, and gin companion back in ful force :)
love you jereme! :)

What is sad is that i had like 20 other things i did this weekend...okay maybe not 20 but this is just a blink of what happened. Anyone else have a busy weekend?

Have a simply wonderful Monday!

Fill in time

ohhh hellloooo friday! I am quite thankful friday has finally rolled around. There has been a lot going on this last week and this weekend is not going to be a lounge around do nothing kinda weekend. I must say it feels good to be getting back into the groove of my weekly daily blogging. Makes me feel like my life is getting back into a routine and not so totally crazy..anyways i hope everyone has a great weekend! its blank time!

Link up over at The Little Things We Do!

1. My go to outfit for a dress-up occasion like a wedding is well I don’t know if I have a go to out fit. But usually a simple dress or a cute skirt.

2. This week has been a little crazy..my good friend business partner and roomie moved out to leave for Thailand so a little sad, but on the other hand got to meet the twins!

3. When it's dinnertime and I'm feeling lazy I'll usually eat usually ends up being pasta or scrambled eggs and toast.

4. My favorite pair of shoes is my pair of BCBG dark purple pumps but now that the heel broke I would say my black pair..nothing like a good pump.

5. A random item that I own that is completely unnecessary, but that I could never part with is
probably the little sentimental gifts that ive gotten over the years or not even gifts just little random things like this mini bouncy ball that i still hold onto, or this snow globe a friend made me in high school..can't ever part with that kinda stuff .

twin time

One of my very best friends just became a daddy to not only one precious child but two. Twins. and you know what's even more perfect? One boy and one girl. Tyler Ansel and Brynn Lydia. These two are pretty much the cutest thing ever. And when going into labor during a 4th of July camping trip in Bend I sadly hadn't gotten to meet them yet! The whole family returned a couple days ago after being away from home for about a month.

I was so excited to finally meet them! They are so tiny and so precious. Robin and Adam you did a great job :) These are two very lucky children to have you two as parents. They are going to be so loved and so well taken care of. I can't wait to watch these two grow up..and to spoil them. :) you know i will Always be up for baby sitting :)

The week before Robin went into labor i had told her and they needed to come over for dinner. I had been planning on finally giving them a basket of things i had been collecting over the last 6 or 7 months. But the twins had other plans, and when they finally got back we got to go through the basket together. :) I had been collecting clothes, little hair pins, super cute beaver booties, and i was planning on making these framed pieces with their names on them. But i settled on making a piece with their names, weight, time and place of birth instead. (stole the idea from etsy) And im pretty happy with how it turned out. Here is what ended up in the basket!

Everything before I made it pretty.

How cute is this little skirt? In love.

Tyler is going to be a little hottie in this checkered botton up.

The framed name pieces i made for them.

The final basket.

The proud daddy and twins :)

I was pretty happy with it once i was done. And i still find myself wandering the baby sections at stores. :) Congratulations again Robin and Adam. I wish you all the luck in the world! It's going to absolutely be a joy to watch them grow up :)

Have a simply wonderful Thursday. :)

its all in the details...

The difference between a good wedding and a great weekend is all in the details. It's those little details that can also drive you a little crazy. But if you plan in advance these little details are so worth the extra effort. I've been noticing some little details in the wedding world that are super cute lately. Some are old and some are new, but regardless they are great ideas.

I'm starting with my favorite idea! I LOVE these bridesmaid boxes. Such a great idea! This one includes a little day of schedule, an "ouch" kit, complete with mini sewing kit, lip balm, polish, tissues, hairpins and other cute essentials for wedding day. I will most definitely be doing these for my wedding...someday....

Anyone can do a menu but sometimes the presentation is what really sets things apart. This was a fun little detail and not much different then listing things traditionally and yet so much cuter!

Typewriters. Seem to be all the rage at the moment. And always with a cute little note as if it had just been typed out. There have been great little love notes and this one was geared toward the guests. Love the detail.

How to tie a bow tie. Love this little groomsmen detail. Wouldn't this be cute in a groomsmen box. However, instead of and "ouch" kit a fun personalized flask and some other goodies would probably go over a lot better then lip balm :)

Okay, i just love paper straws right now. Hence my use of them in my last party but how fun are these blue ones!!

Every wedding is bound to have kids running around. And there are some great ideas on how to keep them entertained. But I love this simple favor bag full of gold fish, treats, coloring book, pencils, and other cute things to play with. Can i be a kid?

I love this classic detail. i love having pictures of parents and grandparents weddings. family pictures, or pictures growing up are always a hit and really personalize things. It can also help pay tribute to those who are no longer with us and gives us a way to remember them on such a special day.

I love details. Don't you?

Happy wedding Wednesday! and hope you have a simply fantastic day!

farewells

It's never easy to say goodbye. and it's something i hate having to do. when you go off to college they always say you end up making some of your best, lifelong friends, and that is so true. The last 4 or 5 years here in corvallis have given me the opportunity to meet some amazing people. People who have truly shape the person I've become. And although I am sad to see us start to all go our separate ways i know that we are going on some amazing adventures. And in a couple years we will be sitting right back around a table with an amazing dinner, a cocktail and catching up. I am truly blessed.

This weekend I threw a farewell party for three good friends. Jereme, Becky and Mandi. All amazing women who are about to go on far away adventures! I knew that with all of these ladies leaving within a couple weeks of each other that I had to throw one last dinner party. So 12 of our closest friends came together for one magical evening. An evening of some chic bbq food, meaningful toasts, and of course a cocktail or two. We sat under the twinkle lights, and as i looked around i truly was just trying to take everything in. It was a beautiful evening and i wil forever remember it. But enough of the sentiments and time for the pics :)
Warning..there are quite a few :)

I made a fun little Bon Voyage signs out of maps and hung pictures with clothes pins.
cute huh? :)

I wanted my table to have a little country chic. And mason jars for water cups did just that.

Was sure to get to the saturday market just as they were opening so I could grab some gorgeous bright flowers.

And who doesn't love a fun red stripped straw?

I wanted this to be a true family dinners. So the food was of course served family style. We had a bbq chic menu. With double barbecue chicken made with homemade bbq sauce, tri tip, strawberry salad, couscous with roasted veggies, cornbread, mango cole slaw, and apple raspberry cobbler.

The name cards were also made out of maps.

Sorry about the horrible quality of this pic but how cute are these little apple raspberry cobblers baked in the mini jars??? sooo delish and super easy to make!

the little sitting area i created

This twinkle light picture doesn't do the area any justice but im sure you can imagine how cute it was once the sun went down :)

It was a perfect evening :)

Hope you have a simply wonderful Tuesday!

im a sucker for a good wedding video

it's true. I love love love wedding videos. But i am probably the pickiest person when it comes to them as well. The biggest thing I am looking for is to feel moved by the video and also that it is beautifully shot. It needs to tell a story, a love story. And this week i stumbled upon a video that did just that. It's more of an emotional video but I just love that you can tell this couple truly whole heartedly loves each other. The video was done by stillmotion and its absolutely beautiful. So happy Wedding Wednesday!

Hope you enjoyed it! Have a simply wonderful Wednesday!

another social network!?!

Because apparently keeping your facebook, twitter, and blogs up to date isn't enough. Now we are kicking in yet another social media site... google+. Now when i heard about this new "facebook" i thought..whhaaattt???...ANOTHER social network. Now granted there are far more networks out there other then fb and twitter. but they are expecting google+ to be the "new" facebook. And I'm just wondering how connected we all really need to be. People already know more about other peoples lives then we probably ever should know. And the hours spent browsing or "stalking" can now move up a few notches with this google+. Although the network is still in the invite only/ testing stages its numbers have grown excessively the last couple weeks. As of July 14th the numbers were at over 10 million..and according to numbers posted a couple days ago they are now at 18 million users. Wow. I of course was curious about this new network so i had a friend invite me and did a little reading on what this was all about. And surprisingly i was quite impressed with it!

Google + is built on the "circles" concept. Basically people can find you like any other network but when you go to confirm someone you categorize them into a "circle". You can have as many circles as you want. It basically makes it a lot easier to control who sees what and what information is shared. You can have a circle for family, co-workers, college friends or groups, and when you post a status or pictures you get to decide what "circle" will be able to view that information. It actually has some cool features that i think facebook is lacking. I think people are truly just curious about google+ right now hence the huge numbers but I think it might be awhile before we really see a shift in the popularity of facebook. facebook was a phenomenon that changed the world we live in regardless if we wanted it to or not. We now have the world at our finger tips. We don't seem to even know what the word privacy is anymore. Anyways...I was definitely skeptical of google+ to begin with but after a little research and actually looking into it..i like it...i like the concept..so come join me on google+ and join my circles :)

Hope you have a simply wonderful Tuesday.

talk about productive

This was a great weekend full of fun and some productiveness! What more could you want! Here is what I did...

Friday night I headed up to Portland to be reunited with some great old friends from high
school. The three of us hadn't hung out together in..well..probably years....so it was great to sit down over a cocktail and catch up and reminise over the good ole days :) It's crazy
how so much can change and yet stay exactly the same. And it's an evening that needs to be repeated sooner then a couple years.

Saturday I was in Salem and got some quality mamma time. Always good. She is the best mom ever. She had my two dresses and skirt all hemed and hanging for me to take back with me :) Gotta love a talented mom.

The rest of the day consisted of actually being somewhat productive around the house. I started my taunting task of cleaning my room (don't judge my horrible messy closet). I always spend my time cleaning the rest of the house...so my room is always at the bottom of the cleaning list.. And not even just cleaning but going through everything and organizing... and in the midst of this i decided that i really wanted to re decorate my room. Not totally change everything but i want something different above my bed..ive had the same look since the dorm rooms...uhh yeah..time for a change. I have a vision in mind but might take me another weekend to complete the look. But trust me it's going to be super cute :)

I felt like after a day of cleaning i deserved a cocktail so I met up with some friends and did just that. Nothing like a gin and tonic with extra extra lime to end the day with.

Sunday I attempted to be productive but it was hard to find motivation to keep going all day. But i did get a few things done and i did make it to a friends softball game. Nothing says summer like a softball game...at least to me...

And now somehow we are back to monday. And i have a feeling this week is not going to be a low key just gotta work kinda week...sigh...all well...i think im finally out of whatever funk i've been in and looking forward to a great and productive week...yeah..maybe you should talk to me at the end of the day...haha

Have a simply wonderful Monday.

mia

Wow...I don't even know where this week went but it's been one of thoooossseee weeks and between an ever increasing work load and just being plain old tired my blogging has suffered this week. So apologies for that. I obviously need to get my balance back in order. I plan on being back to normal next week! So for today i'll just leave some pictures of some pretty things because honestly who doesn't love the pretty things in life.
Happy Weekend everyone! Hope everyone has some summer fun!

have a simply wonderful friday.
