phew...the school year has ended

most people know that the end of the school year has now officially come to an end. last week was a bit crazy trying to prepare for our biggest event of the year, Graduation! Pharmacy has their own graduation ceremony apart from the main commencement ceremony that happened yesterday. If you live in Oregon you must have heard that Mrs. Michelle Obama was this year's keynote speaker. Look at OSU go! My last week was full of grad prep, flower arrangements for graduation, diy gift making, which then lead to my busy weekend that consisted of a bridal shower, graduation parties, fathers day brunch,  and spontaneous quick trip to the casino. A lot was crammed into this last week/weekend but it was all pretty fun. Here are some snap shots from my week!

painted some custom pillow cases for a bridal shower. great DIY project!  Thanks Restored Style for the great idea!!
made a few bigger arrangements for one of the college's graduation ceremonies

made smaller ones for a pharmacy brunch

prepped all week for our pharmacy graduation. heres everyone lining up and looking good in their robes

a couple of my favorite new pharmacists
came back to the office to find this sitting on my desk. such amazing students i get to work with :)

made a stop at my co-workers graduation party. isn't she just adorable. sad for me shes no longer in the office
but yay for her...shes heading to DC for an internship!!! so proud :)

next stop was my friend Mandi's bridal shower where we got ring pops!
pretty much forgot how amazing these things are!

the bride to be holding my apparently "obviously wrapped by andrea" gift.
(gave her the cute pillow cases i made earlier in the week)
then it was time for ms leslie's graduation party.
is she not super adorable

she even made adorable photo booth accessories to have fun with

the weekend ended with an amazing fathers day brunch at Eola Hills Winery.
i love Eola Hills and their brunch did not disappoint. i'm still full

thankfully my sunday evening was low key and relaxing...Corvallis is emptying out and by the end of the day the roads and parking lots will be clear. I do kind of love when the place empty's out a bit. It's a least nice for a couple of months. But i will be ready for the hustle and bustle of students sooner then later.

Did everyone else have a good weekend?

Hope you have a simply wonderful monday!

confidence?

this post has been sitting in my que for months. it's a post that probably doesn't seem like it goes anywhere but regardless they are some thoughts i've had for awhile...

Confidence. An interesting  topic...it can be so personal and yet also so public.

It is something i struggled a lot with growing up. I was never the "popular" girl with tons of friends or super outgoing. I grew up pretty lonely and it wasn't until high school that i finally made some close friends. I think a big reason for a lot of my isolation was loosing my father at such a young age. Over night i was forced to grow up and be independent (maybe not forced but it is what i felt like i needed to do). i spent endless nights laying in bed wishing i had a close friend. i so badly wanted someone to talk to and to trust and yet had no one.

It wasn't until I hit high school that I started to slowly let my guard down and open up...and as soon as I thought I had found someone I could finally relate to she was taken from me and from this world...and a month later my grandfather passed. i endured a lot of loss at a young age. It was one hit after another. My relationships with people seemed like they would always be temporary. And it effected how i saw myself and how i thought others saw me. About half way through high school i started to hit my first boost of confidence. I had finally found a group of close good friends who believed in me, who listened to me, and who were just there for me. It is amazing how much confidence a simple friendship can instill. I slowly allowed myself to trust others and with that came this sense of confidence in myself.

I slowly was able to build on that. After moving to Corvallis and to a new town with new people it was easier to just hold your head a little higher and pretend you were more confident then you were. People are sometimes quite easily fooled. I've always been able to fake just the right amount of confidence in interviews or in meetings. I have a professional side that can walk the walk and talk the talk but sometimes in the quietness of my own self I don't always feel that confident. I of course have my moments when i feel great and on top of the world and those are the times we should focus on. but lets be honest, in a world where we all strive for perfection we are usually the furthest thing from it.

and sometimes i wonder why im trying and working so hard when it seems like i only encounter set back after set back. why can't I ever seem to just grab what im researching for?  but then i remember that nothing in life comes easy, nothing in my life has ever come easy. and when i really look back, ive always been thankful for the path i've had to go through to get where I am regardless of how painful it was. and i'm sure in a couple years i will look back and think the same thing.

I am thankful that most days i do feel confident and i do feel like i can go out and conquer the world but we all have our days. Our days where we don't want to get up, where we don't want to talk to anyone, and where we just want to wallow in some self pity for a bit but those are the days where we need to fake a little of that confidence or hold on to someone else's. When you say a friendly hello to someone in the hall, or smile at someone in the parking lot, something so simple can boost someones confidence so much. I know those small acts of kindness help, they have helped me. Things do get better, and things do happen for a reason. Maybe not always in our ideal timeline but as life goes on some things start to make a little more sense.

i am aware that this is not my normal kind of post. but today i felt like it was time to share this. like i said in the beginning, these are nearly some thoughts that have been on my mind for months. and i am ready to finally just throw them out into the world.

hope you have a simply confident wednesday.

i finally gave in

i am normally someone who looks at new clothing trends and tries to find a way to incorporate them mildly instead of whole heartedly. I feel like I tend to lean toward things that are more classic then say trendy. But I do love some of the current trends going on at the moment. For instance all of the bright colors that are being used pretty much everywhere! I have loved seeing all the bright tops and colored jeans and although I have wanted to take on the whole colored jeans situation I just haven't been able to find the right fit and more importantly the right shade. Either to bright, dark, weird looking on or not the right fit. I am not one of these girls who can put on anything and it look amazing. I am no fashionista. I had pretty much given up hope on finding a pair that I would actually like and look somewhat decent until I was browsing the clearance racks at good ole Old Navy and stumbled across a pair of coral jeans. Coral is one of my favorite colors to wear and with a price tag of 14.99 i figured I had nothing to loose by trying them on. And to my surprise they actually looked kind of okay...it took a little encouragement from my trusty roommate to tell me I looked good in them and with that I finally gave in to the color jean trend. Sigh...and I am not going to lie...I love them now! I can dress them up or down and they just give my wardrobe a little pizazz. Which lets be honest we can always use a little pizazz when it comes to the closet.

mamma's 50th. Coral jeans, paired with a sequin tank and black cardigan

what other trends are people giving into?

Hope you have a simply trendy Tuesday!

Call Me Maybe??

if you didn't already know, i work for oregon state university's college of pharmacy. and this week was quite busy and hectic in preparation for our annual Student Recognition Banquet. Each year the 4 classes of pharmacy school put together an array of different talent acts and fun videos. This year our first year "P1" students  did an exceptional job. Anyone seen the Harvard Baseball Call Me maybe video? Well this was a take off of that. They not only involved their whole class in the making but even were able to convince some of the staff to get in on the action...including me... so take a moment and enjoy a classic youtube video!

Great Job P1's!

Hope everyone has a simply wonderful weekend!

glitter and gold

this weekend we will be celebrating my amazing mothers 50th birthday! i originally had this fabulous elegant evening planned in Portland but per her request she wanted to keep things more casual and laid back. She decided she wanted to go to the casino...sadly that doesn't include heading to vegas so Spirit Mountain will have to do for now. And because we won't be having a formal dinner party or have our own banquet room for me to deck out I will have to stick with sprucing up the hotel suite where we will be doing cake and cocktails after dinner. I had originally wanted to do a gold color scheme and now that we are trying to keep things fun i decided to throw in sparkles and sequins. Add sequins to anything and you got a party! Here was my original inspiration for the party. Unfortunately I don't have the ability to totally transform the hotel room but I will be adding some glitter and gold touches.

sources over on my pinterest page!

Hope you have a simply fabulous thursday!
