apparently its spring

last week we passed the official "it is now spring" date. however, if you were in oregon you had a snowstorm the next couple days but don't worry by the end of the week it was melted with sunny blue skys. typical oregon right? well it is now officially spring break here on the OSU campus. the parking lots are empty, and the students are not on the sidewalks and it would be a perfect week if a. i wasn't working and b. it was at least sunny. however, in typical oregon fashion it is raining. so here is what im dreaming spring would look like if it wasn't so gloomy and i wasn't forced into my boots and sweaters this week. bright colors and more bright colors. a girl can dream right?

5. If you were to look in my closet most of the colors you'd see would be   black and more black, but recently a lot of navy blue and pops of bright colors .

what is going on with this March snow storm right now?! anyone else confused with Oregon's latest spring weather? well nothing to cheer my day up like my latest obsession. lipstick. i will admit that until about 3 months ago actually wearing, let alone owning lipstick just wasn't something on my radar. however in the recent month or two I have become obsessed. nothing to bring an outfit up a notch then using a pop of bright red or pink. I am proud to say that I now own a couple lipsticks and a lips stains. And i have no doubt that my collection will keep growing! Here are a few of my favorites at the moment!

I just purchased a hot pink color and am obsessed with it..you can really layer it to make it lighter or more intense.

the perfect red for me is Cliniques Peach Pop. and its only $15 bucks!  (this is not the color show here)

tasty tuesday's

time for some tasty tuesday fun!

it saddens  me that i no longer have a lot of time for baking. i used to bake almost weekly but with life being so busy i'm lucky to bake unless it's for a dinner party. but last week i had the urge to bake and wanted to find something not to horribly fattening but still delicious. so i grabbed my Pretty Delicious cookbook by Candice Kumai and found this amazing recipe for Banana Chocolate Chip-Oat Cookies. and let me tell you these are some amazing cookies! i already have plans to make them again in the very near future. They were so nice and moist and super easy to make. and the best part, they aren't totally to horrible for you. makes having the cookie a little less guilty. except be carful they are a little addicting. here is the recipe for you!

Gone Banans Chocolate Chip- Oat Cookies:
preheat the oven to 350
3/4 cup flour
1 teaspoon ground cinnamon
1/2 teaspoon baking soda
1/4 teaspoon salt
2 tablespoons of unsalted butter
1 cup packed light brown sugar
1 large egg
1 teaspoon vanilla
1/2 cup mashed banana
2 cups quick oats
1 cup semisweet chocolate chips

cream butter and brown sugar on medium until creamy. Add the egg and vanilla and beat to combine. Mix in ashed banana and 1/4 cup of water. Add flour, cinnamon, baking soda, and salt. Add the oats and chocolate chips and mix briefly. chill the cookie dough for 15 min. (this is a step you don't want to skip)

line baking sheet with foil and coat lightly with cooking spray. Use a tablespoon to scoop out balls and bake for 10 minutes.

Hope you enjoy them as much as I did!

Have a simply tasty tuesday!

wedding wednesday: obsession

lately i've been realizing that my obsession with weddings probably seems completely insane to most people im surrounded by. I get excited about things that normal people rarely care about and what most girlfriends only care about when they are the ones getting married. here are some symptoms of my wedding obsessed life lately.

You know you are obsessed when:

1. you buy books on weddings. the first stop when i get to Powell's is the wedding section.  there is nothing like being able to sit and go through all the amazing pictures and tips, and stories. I get giddy just thinking about it.

2. attending wedding shows without a bride. obviously we can say that being a wedding planner this one isn't so weird. but trust me it's a little awkward when vendors keep asking you when your date is and you have to give that whole shpeal on how you are scouting and not the one actually getting married.

3. following more wedding blogs then i can count on a regular basis. now i will admit that i probably only check about 4 of those on a daily basis but i religiously follow about a million.

4. when i see a random object and want to completely change it's purpose. I will see a pot holder and want to turn it into a chandelier. this is not an example. I have two sitting in my garage as we speak. I also have ikea clearance shelves that i use as risers for food items at events.

5. weddings are in your dreams. i am one of those people who rarely ever dreams/ remembers my dreams but i have had a couple dreams about weddings in the last week or so. the last one i had i forgot to order linens! #nightmare

i sometimes feel like my obsessions are totally legit and sometimes i almost think i might actually be crazy but in the end I just remind myself that my obsession will only make someone special day that much better. i'm by no means perfect but I do strive for perfection in my work. and i guess being a little obsessive never hurt anything right?

hope you have a simply wonderful wedding wednesday.

my newest obsession

last week i was informed of a whole world of online make-up subscriptions. I about died when I heard about the concept and quickly started doing some research. Did you know that for a small monthly fee you can get a box full of high- end make-up and beauty samples? Umm..yes! It is a brilliant concept. Who wants to buy make-up without being able to play with it a little at the counter. And even then you still wish you could try it for a couple days and decide if you want to buy it. Well here is the perfect way to do it! Birchbox is one of the leading US sites leading this whole make-up revolution. Still waiting for my formal invite to be able to subscribe. However, while doing my research I found a similar site that had the same concept but with nail polish! umm we KNOW how obsessed with nail polish I am right now so i jumped at the opportunity to try it out. Thankfully all Julep requires is a little style quiz to sign up! It is a little more expensive at 19.99 a month but you get the full size nail polish and other goodies valued at over $40 bucks a month. And to my excitement I got the box this weekend!!! Check out what I got!

the cute little box!

it came with two nail colors, a hair top coat, and a mini sample of  intense hand cream

my colors were Meryl and Oscar. they were inspired obviously by the oscars :)

LOVE this color. i love grey and this polish is perfection!

Check out their website and sign up for yourself!
Click here for the site! I promise you will not be disappointed! :)

Hope you have a simply fantastic Tuesday!
